This tape (a donation by Steven ‘Stel’ R.) is the very first that Anderz Nielsen compiled. Lorteland is Danish for “shitty country”. He did it in 1983 under the name Boston Tea Party tapes, together with his band-mate Brian Hansen (both living in Albertslund, Denmark). At the time Anderz was playing in ‘Enola Gay’ and did a zine entitled Alles Krig Mod Alle. Later he moved to Kopenhagen, expanded B.T.P. to a distribution, organised shows (at the local punk venue Ungdomshuset) & tours, and played in HC/punk bands such as ‘Misanthropic Charity’ & ‘President Fetch’.

Brob

How did I gett B.T.P. started? The whole idea about doing a compilation-tape already formed late 1981 when I was living in Jutland [the peninsula part of Denmark] and the only chance to get to music that I liked was to write to bands I read about in fanzines. Some bands sent me their demo – great demos that I thought others also should have a chance to hear – so I started contacting even more bands asking them if they had a few songs I could use. In 1982 I moved to Albertslund (Zealand [largest island of Denmark]) and together with my good friend Brian (‘Bad Brain’) we started The Boston Tea Party Tapes and released the Lorteland compilation. The first edition was 150 copies (minus the 15 tapes that we gave to the bands involved). Later on I kinda lost track of how many copies we did but it’s only the first 150 tapes that got the black & red cover. Why did we choose those particular bands? Because we liked them and they wanted to get involved. The idea was to get less know bands/music from around the world out to more people. The name of the tape refers to the way the Danish government was handling the housing-situation (especially in Copenhagen) and youth in general. The picture on the cover shows the demolition of a squat/venue called Allotria [evicted in January 1983], a very important venue in the early squat/punk-scene in Denmark.

————————-

46 Italian hardcore/punk-bands from the early 80s compiled on a tape by Roberto Lentino (Inverno, Pavia).

Spread and duplicate in the face of those assholes who speculate on ‘collecting’ punk.

This is the spirit of this tape: not forcing those interested in this particular period (82/85) to pay undue sums of money to get the vinyl, but stimulating the free distribution through trades or tapes like these.

The recordings reflect those of that period, in any case this is the best result that arose. Special aoplogies to ‘Bedboys’, ‘Crash Box’, ‘Irah’, ‘Shotgun Solution’ & ‘Tiratura Limitata’, for limiting their tracks in favour of other bands that otherwise would not have found a space.

These recordings (courtesy of Kurt Christiaens) are from a gig that Werner Excelmans (R.I.P.), of Hageland Hardcore, organised (86-06-22) in his hometown. That day ‘Impact’ played with ‘Scream’ (USA) & ‘W.D.M.’ (Fin). ‘Bollie Heibel’ interviewed them there for Peace Or Annihilation zine…

That year (1986) ‘Kina’s Sergio Milani released the album Attraverso L’Involucro on his label Blu Bus. Impact (from Ferrara), at that time, was Diego Fabbri (bass; taking over from ‘Bistek’), Alberto ‘Gigo’ Gigante (drums), ‘Janz’ Stefano Ragazzi (guitar), ‘Bistek’ Massimo Ragazzi (vocals; replacing Andrea ‘Infa’). Nowadays Diego is in ‘A New Scar’ (together with ‘Bone’ Stefano Bonanni, ex ‘Eu’s Arse’ & ‘Upset Noise’). The songs they play here are from that LP, from the Solo Odio album (’85) and from their split-LP with ‘Eu’s Arse’ (’83)…

Brob

‘Impact’ played in Scherpenheuvel in June 1986 indeed. This was the only time we played in Belgium during the 1980s. We had never heard recordings of that gig before but (for emotional/personal reasons) we wellcome a copy. We’re pleased that you publish that registration on your website, especially because it’s available to everyone for free.

>>Eject It<< (UK) compilation (1983)

Standard

A compilation on Holocaust Tapes, done by Will Binks from South Shields (England, UK). A tape from Geert ‘Mokka’ Mokwinski’s collection…

Brob

Basically, in 1982 I did 2 issues of Hate & War fanzine with my cousin Paul Briggs. By the end of 82 and beginning of 83 I started a new venture, Still Dying, with my mate Gary Payne. We did 3 issues and 1 compilation-tape, Yes, You Guessed It! (the title was a reference to every other zine putting out tapes). Still Dying came to an end but I still wanted to contribute to our scene as I was an enthusiastic writer and I was in contact with many, many people so I put out the Eject It! compilation and a tape by the Danish band ‘Enola Gay’ before calling it a day.

review in Maximum Rock’n’Roll

The ‘Political Asylum’ tracks are from the first demo Fresh Hate [recorded spring 1983].

Steve Brown

I’m on those ‘Political Asylum’ tracks, recorded when I was thirteen. I wrote the lyrics to those songs too. System Of War was written for the band I was in before: ‘Toxic Noise’. There’s some photos online from the third ever ‘P.A.’ gig and there’s a full recording of that gig at Mayfield Centre, St Ninians, Stirling 83-07-04.
